Ophthalmology
- The Department of Ophthalmology at Vinayaka Missions’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College and Hospital, Salem provides state-of-art care in ophthalmology in both In-patient and Out-patient services along with modern advancements and research opportunities.
- The department also provides sub-speciality services like glaucoma, retina, cornea, orbit and occuloplasty, uvea, paediatric-ophthalmology, and neuro-ophthalmology.
- The Undergraduate teaching programme commenced in 1995, and the Postgraduate training programme in 2006.
- Our community outreach program aims to provide high-quality, affordable care to people and eradicate the preventable causes of blindness.
- The department holds a special program to screen for Retinopathy of prematurity in coordination with the neonatology and paediatric department.
- Advanced diagnostic and surgical Facilities- Operating microscope, Phaco-machine, Fundus camera, Optical Coherence Tomography machine (OCT), Laser delivery system (Green laser and YAG laser).
